The Spooner Agricultural Research Station sheep flock was dispersed
by public auction on October 13, 2016.
Sheep research was a major program at the Spooner Ag Research Station. Due to severe budget cuts to the University of Wisconsin, this research was discontinued in 2016. Research focused on dairy sheep, especially the genetic improvement of dairy sheep and production of sheep milk for processing into cheese. Other research examined the impact of grain supplementation level on milk production while summer grazing and the effect of ewe lamb feeding level on future milk production.
